Milena
I posted a while back asking which name you liked best out of a list of four that included Milena Mireille. Noone picked this as their fav. of the list, but I am curious what you all think of this name?
My pronunciation would be "mill-AY-nah mer-AY". Possible nn's include Mila, Millie, Lena, Mia, Mimi, Mina. The meaning would be "gracious miracle". Sibs are Kye Fischer and Anya Janette. Thanks for your input,
Deedra

the correct pronnounciation (and there were i come from this name is quite common) is:
M
I = aprox. like the i in Italy or Israel
L
E = aprox. like "e" in extra or restaurant (slightly longer tho)
N
A = like A in Alpes or first a in Argentina

Milena Mireille ~ I think the FN looks like it should be pronounced "Mi lee nuh" & not the way you pronounce it. The name's okay but I much prefer Melina (which I LOVE!). Mireille is okay, but not something I'd ever use. I think the combination has too many "M's"...it's nms.

I love Milena.Except that I pronounce it Mil-LEE-na with the nn Mina (my youngest's name). I don't like Mireille just because I think pronounciation would be a nightmare. It's a middle name so it probably wouldn't be THAT big of a deal but plenty of people are going to mess up the pronounciation of Milena anyway so I paired it with a common middle name.

I like Milena. It reminds me of "m'lady." I have a friend named Melaine which is similar. If it were me, I would spell it Melaina (which is apparently the "original Greek form of Melanie"). As someone else mentioned, Milena looks like "mi-LEE-nuh" because Lena is usually pronounced "LEE-nuh" rather than "LAY-nuh". Mireille is beautiful.

To be honest, I have several problems with Milena Mireille. The first is that both of them are ethnic names, and are a bit too much together. The second is that they are too similar (both start with Mi-).Otherwise, I like Mireille, especially for a French woman. Milena is nms.

I dislike the spelling Milena for Mi-LAY-nuh, it looks like Mi-LEEN-uh to me.I'm not fond of the combo in general. Too much M for me.
