Sander
I was wondering what you guys thought about the name Sander for a boy. I've been liking it a lot lately. Do you think it's too last name-y? Do you like it regular, or as a nickname for Alexander? Also, any middle name suggestions would be helpful! :-D Thanks, much guys! Also, would you pronounce it like sand SAN-der, or would you pronounce it SAHN-der?

One who sands (as in, uses sandpaper or an electric sander). Sorry, that's all I can think of. Like naming a child Fisher or somesuch (to go on record, I don't like the names Hunter, Tyler/Tiler, Archer, Taylor/Tailor, etc. either :b).

I really like Sander. I pronounce it SAN-der. It's not too last name-y.

It reminds me of Adam Sandler. Not necessarily a bad thing, but either way, I think it's an unattractive sound. (I would say it SAN-der.)Strangely, though, I wouldn't mind it as a nickname for Alexander, Cassander, or Lysander! :) On its own, it's nms.

Makes me think of shop class, when we used the belt sander and the palm sander.

DittoI really like Zander or Xander though. It fits more with Alexander. You could use it as a nn, but I really hate Alex- names. Zander / Xander are two nn that I don't mind being used without the full name.

I think Sander is better as a nickname for Alexander.
