I love Naomi, probably because of a wonderful girl that I know named Naomi. I'm not sure whether she pronounces it NAY-oh-mee or NYE-oh-mee, though - she answers to both. I'm always inclined to pronounce it NAY-oh-mee; the NYE-oh-mee feels a bit contrived to me, but that's how my boyfriend says it (meaning that perhaps this isn't a name we should consider, lol).
I've never thought of Mina as a nn for Naomi, but I think it works, really - all the letters are there. :) The Naomi I know goes by Omi on occasion. I think that Mimi would be kind of cute for a little Naomi, too.
Some Naomi combos, spanning a wide range of styles since I'm not sure of your naming style:
Naomi Adelaide
Naomi Agatha
Naomi Alice
Naomi Anna

I have always loved my name. Even though I used to get "nye-OH-mee" a lot. I get "NAH-oh-mi" too, as some Japanese people see it as the Japanese Naomi.
Naomi:
Nay - the most simple. I prefer Nai though, from NAomI. :)
Nay Nay
Nomes and Nomesy (said just like 'gnomes') - mostly from people who have known a Naomi before.
Mimi (mee-mee)
Nomi (like 'gnomey') - young childrens favourite when trying to say Naomi.
Amy - because people often think you have said Amy when you actually said Naomi, and then it sticks.
Naomo "nay-OH-moh"
You can't beat random nns that people will come up with, like: Noonoo/Nunu (nuu-nuu like in NOOdles), Noodles and Nalumi (because Naomi sounds just like Nah-loo-mi :P). All apparently based off Naomi.
Mina is a new one to me. So is Omi and Nao. Though Mina is better imo.
I have only been randomly told by one person once that Naomi is 'I moan' backwards (after they saw it in that movie or whatever). No one thinks of names backwards, and it relies on changes to the division of letters and sounds. I asked a friend what is Naomi backwards and i got "IM-oh-ayn".

Naomi is a beautiful name and also the name of our youngest.
Our little one, Amelia, can't say Naomi yet and calls her Nay Nay. It has really stuck and we all call her Nay Nay now. I think it's a really cute nn.

I adore Naomi! I don't think it needs a nickame.
I adore Naomi. I worry about the "I moan" (backwards) thing and the possible Nye-oh-mee prn., which I really dislike, but I still think it's a lovely name. Personally, I don't think it needs a nn, but I'd be apt to call a Naomi "Omi" or "Nay Nay". :b
Amap? A map? I'm confused. Is this an abbreviation or a typo?
