I completely agree with you on this one. A book should give the specific language of origin, not just say the name is African. I find the idea of lumping African names together like that extremely ethnocentric. It would be like listing all names coming from Europe as European, as if each place had the same language and culture. I also find the "meaning" of the name quite suspicious.
