I love it, and I much prefer the pronunciation MY-ah, which is the only one I've ever heard (though English has a funny way of using multiple pronunciations, some of which slaughter the originals).

I love it, and I pronounce it my-ah.

LOVE IT!I tend to say it MAY-a a lot but MIE-a is also very pretty.

It's pronounced MIE-uh.I really like this name. For drama class at my school, we wrote dialogs based off of monolauges we wrote earlier. I chose Maia as my characters name. My friend (who I'm doing the monolauge with) chose Sam. She was gonna choose Jennifer or Jessica but there are girls named Jenn and Jessica in our class.

I love it, it was my gggrandma's name. I'd totally use it if Maya wasn't so popular. I say MIE-ah. I much prefer the spelling Maia. Maya just looks wrong unless you're Mayan.

Maia is a pretty name. It can be pronounced either MAY-a or MY-a, but MY-a tends to be the more common pronunciation in the U.S.

I pronounce it MIE-a and I think it's gorgeous. Though good as a first name, if used correctly, it makes a great middle name.Maia Celestine
Maia Penelope
Maia Rhiannon
Maia Bernadette
Maia Katherine
Maia Winter

I love Maia (also love it spelled Maya), only pronounced MY-uh.

I think it's pretty. I wouldn't use it, but I know a girl named Maia Esther. She pronounces it MY-a (like Maya).

I pro. it MY-uh. It's nice, but I prefer Maya or Mya. It looks too much like Mia to me.

According to this site, it is pronounced either MAY-a or MIE-a. It's a pretty name. Personally, I like MAY-a better than MIE-a.

Looking at it, I pronounced it MY-ah, although that doesn't make it correct. :) I think it's a pretty name, with any pronounciation.

I pronounce it MY-a too, and so does my friend named Maia. (That still doesn't make it legit, just saying.) We had a whole HP thing going on so we called her Her-MAIA-nee. (Don't ask...)

So i guess MY-a it is?Sorry I'm new to all this

There are multiple legit pronounciations. I think MY-a is one of them, and I like it best, because I knew a MY-a. If I hear MIE-a, I assume it's Mia, and MAY-a is Maya. I'd accept any of those for Maia but it wouldn't be my assumption upon hearing them.

What's the difference between MY-a and MIE-a?

There is no difference.

*facepalm* I'm sorry! I read MIE-a as "me" (myself, I) and a, not "my" (possesive).Argh. Sorry.
