Nicknames
I love the name martha but i don't think i like the nickname martie/marty does anyone have any cute really feminine nickname ideas i was thinking maisy but i need somemore please
Replies
it's a short name, it doesn't really need a nickname
I love Marta...so much better than Martha.
Mattie is cute
I knew a Martha who went by Marcie because she didn't like Martha.
I have two friends named Martha: one who goes by Martha and the other one who goes by Mattie. So that'd start my list of suggestions including:
Mattie
Mar
Mari
Mamie
Mame
Mae
Maha (just because of the delightful meaning :-D )
Mare
Mimi
Or just no nickname at all. Martha's not a complicated name that I'd automatically consider a nickname for.
Or something that's a combination of Martha and a middle name, if that's your style. Marlis for Martha Elisabeth, Marine for Martha Catherine, Marlo for a Martha Louisa, or something like that. Those are a little far-fetched and I don't personally care for that route, but if you're really reaching, it's another area to explore.

It's short so it probably doesn't need a nn. Maisie makes a nice one though. Some other ideas (and they're really far-fetched):
Mary
May
Matt/Mattie (though she'd be lost in a sea of Maddies)
Mar
Molly
Art

Well there is Mattie/Matty but really Martha doesn't automatically have to hav ea nickname in fact I've met a few Marthas and not one of them ever used a nickname so there's not need to worry about that if you like Martha just use it and also try to use the proper punctuation it's kind of hard to read when you don't isn't it?
I used to know a friend of a friend who's name was Martha, but she went by May.
This name makes me think of Aunt Martha in Arsenic and Old Lace- one of my alltime favorite plays.

May makes a very pretty nn for Martha....
Hi. My friends have a thirteen year old daughter called Martha. Its rising in popularity in England and is the name of an awful character in the australian soap 'Home and Away'. That said it is a really nice name!
Maisy/ie would be a good (very pretty) NN though I don't think it needs one. My friends daughter has never had her name shortened.
All the best

I really don't think Martha needs a nn. However, I did think of Mar, which is my mother's nn (for Marlys)
How about Mara?
