Minnie as a nickname for Emmeline?
This was suggested in my first post on Minnie. I really like Emmeline, but could Minnie as a nickname for it be credible? What do you think?

I don't see why not. And Elisabeth "Bessie" & Emmeline "Minnie" definitely sound like sisters, IMO. And Minnie is tons better than other Emma or Emmy. ;) Good luck!

I think it could work. My personal favorite is Minnie for Minerva, but emmeline is quite pretty. It is very credible. What would Emmeline's middle name be?

I think it's a bit of a stretch, but then again people get Lily out of Elizabeth and Hank from Henry (I never did understand that one) so I think it's fine. It's really cute too, which makes it ok no matter what:)

Peggy from Margaret is one I never could understand :b

Sure.I've seen less plausible stretches than than and can totally imagine Minnie as a nickname for Emmeline. I think Minnie is a flexible enough nickname--kind of like Mamie or Mimi--that I'd accept the barest of sound similarities as a reason to use it. :-)I think Emmeline and Elisabeth would be great for sisters. They're both E names but I think they're long and different enough that it won't look like Emmeline was picked just for the sake of having an E theme. And of all its possible nicknames, I'd much rather see Minnie than something like Emmy or Emma.
