Smarlee
A birth notice in this morning's paper.
Smarlee, a sister for Kalani.
Marley - i don't like but i sort of understand (lovely on a dog)
Marlee - I like even less, but could still sort of understand it.
Smarlee - It's hard to say and sounds like you're slurring Somali.

Really unattractive sound to me. And makes me think of s'mores, or 'some early' something. :-/
Smarmy?
So...
...Should I assume that the R probably won't really be pronounced, and that the first syllable would a bit like "small"? Because in my accent, the name just sounds (and looks, IMO) absolutely terrible. Like "smelly" and "gnarly" mixed together in one awful heap.
Kalani's pretty cool, though.

Well here (i'm presuming) we would say SMAH-lee.
ew.
Ha! That's so unfortunate. That reminds me, today I found out that Milton Hershey's middle name is Snavely. D:
Looks like someone not so smart misspelled smarty, and forgot to cross the T.
Snarly?
It sounds like a food brand, eat smarlees!
