I think Evie should be used as a nickname, although I have met an Evie whose name was just Evie. And of course, BTN lists it as a name, and that makes me think it's perfectly valid.

I do like it as a nickname for Evelyn. And I love Genevieve... it's a shame you can't use it.

Evelyn is my favorite from that list, with the nickname Evie, although I would be inclined to use the full name.
