Hm, not bad for a 14-year-old. Kinda nice. I don't spell Lily like that - it looks so mediocre & 1970s to me - but I do like the name, and Lotus has grown on me since I first heard it.

abbie And Emma! soo cute! or Daphne and Sarah

Lili Gray - Lili is cute but spelled Lily. I only like Gray for a boy, personally, but since there's a family connection, it's nice.Lotus Jean - don't like either name, but again, since Jean is a family name, I can like it slightly more.

Lotus always reminds me of the sexual implications of foot binding, but I guess that's not going to be so popular of an association that it'll be a burden for her. Apart from that I like them well enough. Not my thing but I can see the appeal. I like Lili Gray more between them.

I think she did quite well in the naming. I'd prefer to see Lily, but other than that they're cool.

I like both names. I like the spelling Lili and Lili Gray is really spunky. Lotus is a GP of mine and I think it is pretty. Lotus Jean also has some spunk.

I like:Amelie (Amelia)
Lili (prefer Lilly)

I like it.

Lotus is the name of a feminine hygiene product, or so I have been told

oh I LOVE Lotus

Lotus is a reasonably popular name in the Netherlands, it's a good name IMO.
vote up1
That's odd I never heard it used...I was wondering, what made you say it's popular in the Netherlands?Lotus is a GP of mine, but that's because I like it for a boy actually :)

I like Lotus too. It's the Lili I don't like. It's pretty impossible IMO that she wasn't trying to have a flower theme. So instead of spelling Lilly wrong she should have gone with a different flower name like Lilac or Lavender or Lobelia. I think Lilac Gray and Lotus Jean would have been a really interesting sibset.

I like the fact she honoured her grandmothers, and although she used cutesy names, they aren't that bad IMO.

Hmm... I'd like them individually, but together it's too much. Both are nice though.

Besides the fact that she's 14The names are okay. Too cutesy for me, and I really don't like Lotus...but she could have done a LOT worse.

"Totally" agree - with everything

I think 14 year olds should refrain from having childrenAnd most of them should refrain from naming them.I don't like the spelling of Lili. It looks like lee-lee to me. Lotus is awful.

Not all 14 year old parents are bad or have bad naming tastes. I know a few woman who have had kids at 14 or 15 and their children have lovely names (that are spelt properly)

I know of a lot more than 'a few' that did not make good choices when naming their children (nor at doing much else). But I see that a lot at every age, from the early teens to the late 40s--bad choices. :-/

I know someone who had a baby at 15, and named him Christopher Ryan.

Good for her. I know a 16 year old who had twin girls and named them Miracle Desire and MiAngel Destiny.

Blah! :PI would change my name when I was older if those were either of my names. I would change my name just before college. But when I was younger I'd either go by Mira for Miracle Desire or Mimi or Mia for MiAngel Destiny. Or maybe I would have just told people that my name was Mira Desirae or Mirabel Desirae instead of Miracle Destiny or Mia Angeline or Mia Desta or Mia Desdemona instead of MiAngel Destiny.

Although I suppose it's goodthat these girls know they were a miracle, and desired!

Personally..I think that she can name her kids whatever she wants, no matter what her age. They ARE her kids, after all. If for whatever reason I got pregnant at fourteen (NOT going to happen, totally hypethetical), I would be furious if my parents named them. And she didn't neccessarily just say, "I'm fourteen, so I want kids!"
But that's just me.

I agree completely

I agreeHowever, I can see where Rachel comes from seeing as a lot of teenage mothers choose horrible names, in the aspect of trendiness, creative, and spelling. Then again, older parents do the same thing, just doesnt seem to be as often.

"And she didn't neccessarily just say, "I'm fourteen, so I want kids!" Umm...but she should have atleast understood that at 14, when you have sex, you can get pregnant. I hate it when people say just because someone is young doesn't mean they didn't want to get pregnant. You shouldn't have sex unless you are mature enough to have kids because no matter how hard you try accidents happen.Okay, I am stepping off of my soapbox now.

"I hate it when people say just because someone is young doesn't mean they didn't want to get pregnant"
I don't think anyone's saying she didn't know what she was doing and what could happen just because she was young. I have three kids, I've known you can get pregnant since health class in 6th grade. But that doesn't mean I wanted to get pregnant any of the times that I did. I was 17 when I got pregnant the first time. I knew what could come from having sex, but I sure as hell didn't want to get pregnant at that age. Stuff happens, sometimes it could be avoided very easily but that's life.I like both names although Lotus is nms. At least she didn't name them something like Lemmyn & Unique.

And you don't know the circumstances around the pregnancyShe may have been raped, she might have a had a history of sexual abuse which puts a girl psychologically at risk of becoming promiscuous, she could have been physically abused, had an absent father- both of which put a young girl at risk of being manipulated by an older boy. So how about you don't be so judgemental on that soapbox.

You're so right. There are so many other factors into it. This site isn't about the age people have children anyway. Its to discuss names.I like the combination. They're not really my style but they're cute. Lili and Lotus. Interesting and unique without going over the top. I like that she honored her grandmothers too.

I agree...I was judgemental. Mostly it is because the people I know of that get pregnant in their teens with unwanted pregnancies (not that I even know her pregnancy was unwanted from the start, but am just guessing) come up with some lame excuse that they thought they would never get pregnant. I am in no way attempting to downplay the things you mentioned nor am I saying those things did not happen to her. I was simply ranting about something that I often see and am annoyed by...it really had nothing to do with her but simply sparked a rant of mine.I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

She probably thinks so too, right about now.however, I wish them all the best. And teen-aged mothers *do* grow up, it's not a permanent state.
I quite like the names, Lili and Lotus..both flowers.

Actually a lily is a flower, not a lili :bI guess we should be glad they aren't Lili and Lotys? :-/

1) having twins at 14! that must be hard. i'm 15 and couldn't handle twins
2) i love the name Lili, spelt anyway.
Gray, i'm not that keen. i light bright colours and pastels so that proberly aggects my opinion
3) i don't really like Lotus imo. my first impression is the car. i like the name Jean though.
