According to the site, Shanae comes from Shania. I always thought it sounded more like a phonetic translation of Sinead. Furthermore, according to the popularity charts, Shanae was popular in the US in the mid 80s, then disappeared in the early 90s, while Shania became popula in the mid-90s. So people were naming their kids a variant of Shania before Shania Twain made the name popular?
