I love it. The nickname Rory is cute, too. I only like Rory as a full name for a boy, but as a nn, it works on a girl.

I love it! I think its beautiful and I like its meaning and sound. Its so much prettier than Dawn which means the same thing. I agree with blaaarg, it can be hard to say at times and because of that, I personally wouldn't use it.

I should like this name. I should really like this name.

It's not that I have trouble saying it, I don't. It's not that Rory is a boy's name, I have a soft spot for Georgia-called-George, Frances-called-Frankie, Wilhelmina-called-Billie, &c. It's not that I associate it with a highway (which apparently it is?). It's a perfectly fine name.

But I absolutly detest it. Sorry. I think it just feels a bit "precious" to me. Don't know why- I'm fine with giving kids the names of goddesses, like Minerva, or nature names like Poppy or Ginger. But Aurora sounds inescapably Faery-Not-Fairy Princess to me. And I don't particularly like the sound. It's bland, even though it's pretty. Just sounds like noise.

I think Aurora is wonderful, and I'd totally love and use it if it wasn't the name of a big, ugly, sprawling highway in my town. :P

I love it. The guy I am seeing at the moment has the most gorgeous little girl named Aurora Sunshine nn Rorie. She is such a happy and joyous little girl and it remind me of her

I think it's pretty and I love the meaning, but people (especially young children) may have trouble pronouncing it. I live very close to a town with this name, and it usually ends up sounding more like aw-WOR-a than aw-ROR-a. It could just be a regional thing, but the pronounciation problem kind of ruins it for me.

As for the nn, I don't really like it, sorry. Rory is all boy to me and I have a hard time picturing it on a girl.

I don't mind boyish nns on girls (like Georgina, nn Georgie), as long as it's clear that they are originally boy names. I'm afraid that Rory is new to Americans' ears and everyone will assume that it's a girl's name. Arrrgh!

I love Aurora. I love Rory. But not together, sorry.

I think Aurora is very pretty, and I don't think it's hard to say. Maybe for a little kid, but if you call her Rory I suppose that would solve it. Aurora reminds me mostly of Sleeping Beauty. I love Rory on a boy, and would prefer it stay that way, but if it is a nn, I think it's okay.

I find it too frilly and difficult to say. And Rory is a boy's name, ack! I hate seeing Rory on a girl, even as a nn. *pout* Damn those Gilmore Girls.

I love it if you always call her Rory. I think that Aurora is a nice name, but difficult to say with the Au sound at the beginning. Rory is a very nice nn!

Aurora falls into the category of Names I Should Like But Don't. It's perfectly lovely and legitimate, but something about it rubs me the wrong way. I do like Rory as a nickname (and only as a nickname!).

I love Aurora, and yes, the northern lights make the name even better. I dislike Rory as a nn, though.

Aurora is so elegant and beautiful. And though Rory is in my top 5 fav boys names, I think it's adorable when used as a nn for a girl!
