Fiona
This is a name I've never cared for, but lately I've been watching a stellar show called Burn Notice where one of the main characters is Fiona nn Fi. All of a sudden, I'm loving it.
I doubt very much I'll ever get it past dear fiance, but WDYT?

Fiona is a lovely name, I know one and first came to hear it through actress Fiona Shaw. People are going to kill me for this (or at least going to type random replies back) but I actually thought the Shrek movies would pull people to the name, I mean she was a strong willed gal who showed society beauty isn't everything - a good rolemodel no? And she has a practical name. I know girls called Cinderella, to be honest, I'd rather have Fiona.
I think it's pretty, and it doesn't remind me at all of Shrek. It mostly reminds me of the little girl from The Secret of Roan Inish.
It's a good name. As to the nick-name, is it pronounced "Fee"? That's what my mother's innumerable sisters called her. (Her name was Freda.)
I've only met one Fiona before, and she was a total brat. It immediately put me off the name.
LOL. I was just thinking how much I like this name after watching Burn Notice last night. I think it's lovely and I quite like the nn Fi. I've always liked it, but it has been really grabbing my attention lately because of Burn Notice (which I think is stellar, too.)
I really (like you) have never cared for it. But kudos to you if you do like it!

P.S. Another instance where fiona was used was in "A Cinderella Story", it was the name of the evil stepmother. Between that and Shrek, it ruined it for me. :(

Fiona is okay, but because of Shrek, I could never truely like it.
Fiona is a lovely name. I've never met one, though.
