Edina, Alida and Aida
Replies
Edina - Reminds me of the character on "Absolutely Fabulous" nn Eddie. Wouldn't really want my kid named after her, lol. Adina is slightly better (nn Addie?). And I like Idina but only because of Idina Menzel. :b
Alida - This is my least favorite of the 3. It just does nothing for me. But I don't like Leda or Lita, either.
Aida - I think of the opera, or a Spanish baby I once took care of (but her name was prn. more like EYE-ih-dah).
Edie could definitely work as a nn for either of those, I think.

I dislike Edina--it's a suburb of the Twin Cities where nearly everyone is rich and snobby. Also, my ex-roommate came from there. D:
Alida is really pretty, though, and Jane Aida "Janey" was one of my top combos, once upon a time. I really love Aida and Alida both.
And I like Edie, but I like it best for Edith.

Lol. "Absolutely Fabulous" is another reason I like the name Edina. Her character was born Edwina Margaret Rose, but she thought Edwina was not "glam" enough and dropped the "d." It's so hilariously pretentious that I had to love it.
Glad you like Alida. I first heard it on the Hungarian actress Alida Valli (sp?). If you ever see the old movie "The Third Man," she's the lead female character. Very elegant. She makes me love the name.

Ditto.
The Third Man is what made fall in love with Film Noir.
