Re: Sophie

I love Sophie/Sophia, but it is common. And, I don't like naming pets typical poeple names. Maybe more outlandish names.

I like the way Sophie rolls off the tongue. Phoebe is a good alternative. I thought I might use it, but it's just too popular. Especially considering that Sofia is also high up on the list, it doubles the amount of Sophia/Sofia's out there, it's probably #1 when combined.
I think of Jennifer Aniston, and Jennifer Love Hewett (or whatever) with their popular names. Then I think of people in school who had the #1 and #2 names when I was born...... I know SO many Jessica's. They seem to be fine with their names, I always felt that each Jessica was JESSICA. Like someone else said somewhere on here months ago, some kids don't want an unusual name, some just want to totally fit in, and have a name that is totally accepted and that everyone is used to. Considering all of this, I decided not to go with Sophia. Eventhough we're Italian and it would go so well.
Forgot to say.... back when Golden girls were on, and the Mom's name was Sofia, it never stuck me as a beautiful name or anything... Probably because she was a old grabby Italian woman.. hmmmm
