Nickel
WDYT of Nickel? I love the sound and meaning of Nicholas, but it's too popular for me. I also have a soft spot for word names. I dunno where I saw Nickel, but it's gained interest for me recently. It is a real name in Dutch and German as a short form of Nikolaus. The metal nickel also came from the name Nicholas, so it's surprisingly legit considering the wordiness of it. (like Sterling, which I also love, though Nickel and Sterling would be way too themey)

And his sister, Penny? :b j/k Too word-y for me. Maybe Nichol or Nicol, on their own or as a nn for Nicholas.

I much prefer Nichol, which here is a surfboard brand.

I haven't heard Nickel ever being used (and I'm Dutch), I do like the sound, but would only use it as a NN. I agree that Sterling and Nickel would be too themey, but it immediately got me thinking of maybe Nicolas "Nickel" and Penelope "Penny" as a sibset :P

I like it, actually. I'd probably spell it Nichol or Nicol though because even though Nickel is legit, a lot of people aren't gonna to know that, kwim?I know a girl named Nicolette and for a little while she was referred to as Pennyette. It took me a while to get it. =P
