I actually prefer the spelling Raynor. It's not listed in the BtN database as a legit spelling, but it's the first spelling of the name I ever came across (in the horribly inaccurate Name Your Baby by Lareina Rule). That particular spelling also combines elements from both my brothers' names in addition to containing "Ray" which is my grandfather's mn.

However, since you don't have those particular connections... ;o) I like Rayner and Rainer (prn like Rayner) best, with the Reiner prn and spelling coming in last.

NO TERRIBLE

Reiner looks much more classy than Rayner, because of that trendy y. I personally prefer Rainier (ray-NEER) because of a local connection.

I would prefer Rayner for a boy and Rainer for a girl.

Rainer is better, pronounced the same way.

I think my step-uncle is named Reiner but I can't recall how it is spelled. I believe his mother was first generation German and I think of it as a very strong german name, much like Reinhold.

Um...I think that it sounds good, but I don't think that the spellings look as nice. I guess that I like Rainer.
