Saydee... WDYT?
Okay, I know this isn't the traditional spelling, but it's how my great-grandmother spelled it. I think I like it better than Sadie, but I don't know... what do you think?
Also, could you suggest some combos? There are some family names I have that you can work with:
Alice
Lillian (I'm loving Saydee Lillian, WDYT?)
Helen
Estelle
Ruth
Elaine
Esther
Mary
Toiba
Bertha
Dorothy
Pauline
NOTE: Most of the names I just listed I really dislike... but maybe some of you have some variants that I haven't thought of? The only one on that list that I like AS IS is Elaine.
Thanks! I know it's a lot.

So your great-great-great-grandparents were tryndeez, or else really were illiterate and spelled Sadie Saydee just because they didn't know better. Neither is a good justification for continuing their mistake imo. To cut down on confusion, frustration, and your kid being mistaken for coming from a poorly educated family (the old "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" thought applies here), I strongly recommend spelling the name Sadie.
Now, as for the name Sadie itself, I admit I personally don't really like it because it reminds me of the word "sadism". But it might be just me, so take that as you will. I also prefer Sadie as a nickname for Sarah, because I generally dislike nicknames or pet names as full first names, unless they can etymologically stand on their own. Also, I feel a full name gives the child more choices, because--in this case--if she winds up not liking Sadie, she can go by Sarah, Sally / Sallie, or Sal, or even a more obscure nickname like Sari, Sassa, Sarit, Sarita, Sarina, or Tzeitel.

I have a similar problem concerning family names and "untraditional" spellings. My sister's name is Candis (after our aunt, both spelled the same way...and I honestly think our grandparents just didn't know how to spell it 'correctly', no joke). I want to use it as a mn, but I refuse to spell it any other way than Candis because my sister's name is not Candice or Candace, ya know? But that's as a mn, so it's not as big of an ordeal, I think. So maybe you could use Saydee, but as a mn? Otherwise, I would suggest spelling it Sadie, only because of the headaches it would cause her, but I can understand wanting to be true to your grandmother's name, etc. :-/ *sigh*
A couple of suggestions:
Dora Saydee
Dorothea "Thea" Saydee
Helena Saydee
Hope that helps. :)

Don't like Saydee. The y and the -ee make it look silly and breathless to me. Sadie is fine and will cause loads less confusion.
You seem to have plenty of variations to work with so I'll leave you to it :)

I know your great-grandmother spelled the name Saydee, but I really do think you should stick to the correct and traditional spelling of 'Sadie'. Besides, it's the sound of the name you want, not necessarily the spelling. I'm afraid the spelling 'Saydee' looks too tryndeigh to be taken seriously.
As for combos, I've always liked the sound of Sadie Clementine, but Clementine's not on your list.
Sadie Lillian is my favourite using names from your list and Sadie Esther is an eye-catcher, too. Other suggestions:
Sadie Helene
Sadie Tamsin
Sadie Aurelia
Sadie Bianca
Sadie Estella
Sadie Berthe
Sadie Violet
Sadie Eleanor
Sadie Louisa
Sadie Annabel
Sadie Lilia
Sadie Victoire
Sadie Ophelia
Sadie Bernadette
Sadie Catherine
Sadie Natalia
Sadie Rebekah
Sadie Johanna
Sadie Jean
Sadie Ramona
Sadie Megan

First, people really need to stop naming their dogs Sadie. It's reaching to a ridiculous extent, and it's ruining a perfectly good name. Also, I really, really, really think you ought to spell it the traditional way. Saydee does look illiterate, as other posters have pointed out. Other forms and names with similar meanings of the names you don't like I have listed below. (I do really like Sadie Lillian, and Sadie Helen is also very nice.)
Alice-
Allison
Aileas
Ailis
Adelaide
Arwen (Same "noble" meaning from here down)
Alina
Arya
Ethel
Adara
Adela
Estelle- Stella, although it doesn't flow with Sadie/Saydee
Other "star" meanings...
Astra
Astraea
Danica
Dara
Elanor
Roxana
Esther- I don't know if you would consider Hadassah. It isn't like Esther necessarily, but it was the original name of the Biblical character. Whether you would consider that to still honor your relative I don't know. It also means "star", so see the above list for same meanings.
Mary- Possibilites are endless here. :) Most of these are variants of Mary.
Maia
Mair
Maire
Mairin
Malia
Mara

You are a saint. THANK YOU!!!
WOW. I am stunned. You went to WAY too much effort for that, but I totally appreciate it! :-D
Alice variants I like:
Adelaide -- reminds me of a porcelain doll
Alina
Arya
Adara
Adela -- what about Adele?
On Estelle... I have always loved the name Danica. What bugs me is when people pronounce it dah-NEE-kah. Grr. And Roxana is great!
Mary variants:
Maia (it's on my PNL, but spelled Maya)
Mairin -- kind of exotic, kind of unique, but still really cool
Mara -- I love this, but my name is Laura, so it would be weird to use on my child.
Maria -- I like this one lots. Always have.
Mariel -- had not thought of this one! I like it!
Maris
Molly -- ADORE this name.
Hmm... Toiba variants... my mother is named after Toiba (Toba), and I like some of the meaning similarities... especially Tova. I agree with you, Paloma and Jemima are the better ones [grins], although I doubt I'd use Jemima just because of the Aunt Jemima Pancake Syrup stigma.
Bertha:
Clara -- very nice. I had no idea this was related to Bertha!
Roxana -- since it works for honoring two relatives, I like it double!
Godiva... that is COOL. I had NEVER considered that before. Very cool.
I was thinking I'd use Paul on a boy... mn Simon. That should cover Pauline, since I've never really liked any of the feminized versions of Paul.
Again, THANK YOU.

I agree, you have fantastic middle names, they deserve a correctly spelled first name, so does your daughter. Sadie is ok, it is pretty, cute and not too popular, unless you have a dog.
My great-grandmother thanks you for calling her name awful and illiterate. But I do like Sarah.
I'm sure Tota meant no offense to you or your Great-Grandmother.
Agreed. People call it as they see it. I would've said it was trendy as well
That did strike me too, I also know a dog who is named Sadie.
