Re: a few questions

1. Francis called Frank / Frankie - What's your impression and stereotype?
I don't really have a stereotype, but I have two impressions of the name -- one is St. Francis; he was a favorite when I was younger. He loved animals and his prayer was about peace. The other is a kid I went to grade school with; he went by Frank, and the characteristic that stands out the most was that he had awful sinuses and his nose was always running whether he bothered to wipe it or not. Probably kind of random, but for those reasons, I like Francis but not Frank.
2. Pick ONE of: Drew or Merrick.
Oh, that's difficult. I do like them both, but I'll go with Drew right now because I would fear Merrick being called Rick. It's not a bad NN; my cousin is Rick, but I don't like it as much as Drew. I do like Merrick as a whole, though.
3. Robin for a boy: do you think it is very masculine, or does it sound kind of "soft" or weak to you?
I can understand the "soft" impression; a robin itself has delicate connotations. I think I like it better for a boy, but no, I don't think if feels particularly masculine. I'd be hesitant with it.
