WDYTO Nimue?
Just wondering everyone's opinions on Nimue. My mother hates it. She thinks it sounds like Nympho (that's never good). I love it, the sound and the history. TIA!!

I'd definitely rather meet a Nimue than a little girl with a trendy and/or masculine name, but I can't say I love the sound. It doesn't remind me of nympho, lol, but it does make me think of that song, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" (a-weem-a-way). :b

I like it a lotIt's a fixture in my top five. I love the namesake (come on, who wouldn't want to be named after the Lady of the Lake?) and just the look and sound of it.It's never reminded me of nympho or nimrod :)

Whenever I see it I think: Nimrod

I'm not too fond of the pronunciation. It's not horrible or abrasive, but it's odd to the ear ... I absolutely love the way it looks written out, though! On a side note, I know a Japanese girl named Nemue (pronounced almost identical to Nimue). The characters used in her name mean Sound, Dream, and Blessed. (Ne, Mu, and E)

Nympho? Most certainly not! After the NIM sound, it changes entirely. And it's downright gorgeous.

I think it's a very pretty name and it should be relativley recognizable because of the history/mythology of it (as long as people know how to spell it...). Just don't name her brother Merlin. :)

It's lovely. But if I can't gather up the courage to use it then I would have it the mn spot or use Vivien (it's what some writers call Nimue)

It's one of my very favorites, possibly my most favorite if I'm honest. I just can't quite work up the courage to use it as a fn though since I think all the pronunciation issues and puzzled looks would be irritating. I'd love to use it as a mn though, as I think it's gorgeous and it has such lovely associated imagery for me.I do "know" one little girl with this name. A fellow photographer on a online forum I belong to has a daughter, about 7 years old, named Nimue. They live in New Zealand. I was beyond myself when excitement when I found out about her. I love, love, love that SOMEONE used the name.
