Jane
My cousin is pregnant and if it's a girl they are naming her Jane, after her mother. WDYT? I think it's nice to honor her mom (my aunt) but Jane sounds a little stale to me. I think Janie would a cute nn for a child though. So WDYT?

I love Jane. I think it's a sweet name and find it quite refreshing...especially alongside names like Madison, Nevaeh, Kylie, Destinee, etc.

Not stale at all! It's been neglected for a generation or two and it's such a classic choice that it's past due for a revival. It's way down around #500 in the SSA lists, so she'll likely be the only one in her class. I hve to admit that it's one of my favourite names. Stale names are ones like Jennifer, Emily and Madison.

I love the name Jane actually. I don't find it boring at all. I think it's a sweet name that ages well and has a nice meaning. To me, it seems ripe for revival.

Jane is one of my absolute favorite names. Excellent choice.

I love Jane as a fn. Very pretty and classic and not at all stale as it isn't used all that much anymore. It will need a more interesting mn though

Jane is fresh to me, it's been neglected for the last 20 or so years and I think it's due for a renewal. If Jean wasn't top of my list for girls for family reasons, Jane would probably be on there.Janie is extremely cute, and it's always been my favourite Jane nickname.

Agree, I find it very fresh and pretty.

Yeah, I agree. Jane sounds just too plain.

I disagree! Jane is a simple name, but it's also very cute and fun. When I think of a Jane, I think of a sweet, feminine girl with a bubbly attitude. I really love it!

I love Jane! It's so underused. I don't like Janie that much, though.

It's plain, but nice. I personally prefer Jayne, it looks more complete. I wouldn't use it as more than a middle name though. I really like the combo Meredith Jayne.

I think the term Plain Jane is very accurate. Jane is like Mary or Sarah or Elizabeth, it's just blah. Like Jane Doe. (I don't feel this way about John, I wonder why?)Janie is a very generic little-girl nn, like if you were telling a joke and needed to distinguish one little girl from another, you might call one Janie and the other Suzie. I do like the song "Janie's Got a Gun" though. lol

I think Jane is lovely, and very ready for a comeback. Old-fashioned doesn't necessarily have to be stale. I usually think of "stale" names as being more dated, but Jane is just a classic. Janie is a cute nn, too, although in my personal experience it doesn't age well at all.

Jane is very plain, but despite that I think it's absolutely gorgeous. And I've never really seen any little Janes running about . . . so it would be quite nice. Janie is cute, but personally I prefer just Jane.
