I think in this case, I prefer Arianna.
I think this will definitely spike in popularity in about ten years when today's teenagers start having lots of kids...Harry Potter has probably turned a lot of people on to it. It certainly could be worse, I don't mind it though I'm not a huge fan. It reminds me of Briana / Brianna.
I think either spelling is fine, but I pronounce them differently...I say ah-ree-AH-na for Ariana and er-ee-A-na for Arianna.

I prefer the spelling Ariana...but I don't particularly like the name. It sounds trendy to me.
