Isabella
Ok, aside from the popularity, what do you think of this name?
Let me start by saying that I do like it but I have to say that I prefer Isabel.
My sort-of bf (long story) really loves this name. And it's the only girls name thus far that we both like. His favorite girls name is Andrea but I just don't like that one at all.
Another question. Do you think Isabella Maria would sound odd on a child that would surely have blonde hair? I'm just wondering if both names together, is a bit too Italian or Spanish on a child that is neither? I personally think the combo sounds great but I just wonder if it would be weird for me to actually use.
Of course I'm not planning on any children anytime soon, so it's not like I'm rushing about finding the perfect combo. But I'd like to know what everyone thinks about Isabella and Isabella Maria, even if it's only hypothetical at this point.
Thanks,
Jamie

I'm sorry but I absolutely hate that name. I'm one who doesn't care about popularity so it's not that..it's just the name. =(
Isabella is one of my favorites too (though it is a bit too popular for me to consider for a DD at this point)! Isabel and Isabelle are okay too, but I personally prefer Isabella. I think the combo Isabella Maria would be fine, even if your daughter has no Spanish/Italian background (and I do prefer Maria to Marie as a middle name because Marie is so overused as a "filler" middle name).
I love Isabella! But I prefer Isabelle :)

Ditto, though I prefer it spelled Isabel.

I love Isabella. I don't think Isabella Maria would sound too odd on a child who wasn't Spanish or Italian. Both names are pretty versatile. I prefer Isabella Marie though, because I don't like the repetative -a sound.

I prefer Isabelle. Do you like that spelling at all? Kind of a compromise. Isabella Maria really isn't my style. I don't really like either name. Isabelle Mary is okay though. No I don't think Isabella Maria is weird on a blonde child, being that it's become pretty well-known and is used all on kinds of different people.

I'll try Isabelle on him and see if he likes it. I do prefer the spelling Isabel (oddly enough I first started out only liking the spelling Isabelle and not Isabel) but he might like Isabelle better, as it's more familiar.
I like Mary as a middle name but the reason I want to use Maria so much is that my mother's middle name was Marie and Maria is closest to to Marie. I don't mind Marie, even if it is a filler middle name. But I don't think I'd ever use it unless the first name I chose was more unusual to balance it out.

I really like the name Isabella. I think it's so feminine and sounds so classy. The combo Isabella Maria is gorgeous; both names are absolutely beautiful. I don't think it's too weird that a little girl with blonde hair have two names such as these. Isabella is such a popular name right now anyway, whether Italian or not, and Maria just goes nicely with it. On the other hand, I'm not fond of Isabel at all.
