Alexander/Alexandra
Does the name Alex sound masculine or femine to you? To me, Alex sounds masuline, and Alexa and Alexis feminie. My sister thinks Alex is a good name for a girl, I disagree.

Alex sounds both masculine and feminine though I do prefer Alexis or Alexia for a girl.
I will own up to a total bias right up front. I've had a lifelong love affair with the name Alexander, and gave it to my firstborn son, whom we call Alex most of the time. I think of it as ultra masculine and have no regard for any feminine derivatives, though I am (oddly, I admit) able to stomach Alexandria as a place name.
Alex sounds masculine.
Alex sounds like a boy's name, Alexa and Alexis sound feminine to me, but they are amongst my least favorite names.
Alex as a nn is fine for either sex. Alex as a full name, boys only imo.
Alex can work either way but I definitely consider it masculine, along with ALexis.
Alexa is feminine.
Alexa is feminine.
I prefer Alex for a boy but it is unisex to me, Alexis is male to me too.
I prefer Alex as a nn for both Male and females I personally dont like it as a full name.

I'm friends with both a male and female Alex (though the male Alex is short for Alexandrew, not Alexander). Most nicknames to me are unisex. A girl could be called Jack (nn for Jacqueline) or Frankie (nn for Francesca)and a boy could be called Shelly (nn for Sheldon), so why not Alex?
