Agnes: Lovely, rarely used.
Magnus: I don't like it. Personally, it reminds me of the name of a condom. There are a few of these Magnus' popping up around the globe though (no pun intended!)

Do you prefer Agnes or Agatha?: I think both are equally nice.
Ingrid: I LOVE Ingrid. I have liked it since I was about 7 years old and it just grows on me. I know that my future husband will shoot it down though and say it is ugly. Most people do.
Gilbert: LOVE it in an Anne of Green Gables sense and I like the Whats Eating Gilbert Grape association, but many people think this name is too odd. I am still wondering why. I really like the nn Gil, but I don't care for Gilly.

Agnes - I prefer Agatha, though Agnes has been growing on me some. I don't really like Aggie, though.

Gilbert - Not a favorite, but I don't think it's weird. There was a boy in my English class last year named Gilbert (well, it was his middle name; his first name was Florence but he went by Gilbert), so it's easy for me to see it on a person.

I love Agatha, and I think nn Aggie is great occasionally. Agatha Rosalie is one of my top combos ATM. I like Agnes but not as much.

Gil reminds me of the TV show CSI, and he's a great character, so I have positive associations with the NN. I'm not a big fan of Gilbert, though. The sound is just unappealing.

I am considering Agnes for my own daugther, it's a family name, as well as in tribute to the novel David Copperfield. I also love Gilbert to to Anne of Green Gables!

Agnes is okay, but I prefer/love Agatha! I like Aggie as an occasional nickname.

I like Ingrid. I went to school with a beautiful blonde haired, blue eyed Ingrid, so the name brings a pretty, youthful image to my mind. (She had an equally pretty - and blonde haired, blue eyed ;) - younger sister named Heidi.)

I love Gilbert, due in large part to the character from "Anne of Green Gables." (Love the Anne books. :) )

I think Agnes and Magnus are okay to use in real life, although I'm not fond of either. I prefer Agatha over Agnes, because it sounds prettier and would age more gracefully, imo. I absolutely love Ingrid and have since I read 'Dream Weaver' many years ago. I think Gilbert is okay and useable, and I like Gil over Gilly, although neither are terrible.

I think Agnes (on my list), Ingrid (on my list...Top girl's name), and Magnus are pretty awesome names.

I am not a fan of Gilbert; I don't hate it, but I don't like it. I guess you may say that I am rather meh about it.

Agnes sounds harsher and more old and unattractive than Ingrid, in my opinion. I actually think Ingrid is rather pretty, especially as a middle name. I like Agatha bether than Agnes, but Aggie makes me think of Aggieville here in the States. Magnus is rather pompous for real life, I think. Maybe as a middle name?

Love Gilbert. I think it's so strong and handsome. Very old-fashioned sounding in a good way. I'll admit, I first started liking it through AoGG, but I think I like it for it's own sake now. Nn Gil is great, but Gilly not so much. It just makes me think of the children's book, "The Great Gilly Hopkins." (or something like that)

Agnes is very pretty, and Aggie is adorable. I think Magnus is too much. It might work as a middle name though. Ingrid is one of my favorite names, its gorgeous. Gilbert is cute.

I don't really like Agnes for some reason. I much prefer Agatha, and yes, I like the nn Aggie.

Magnus reminds me of Will Ferrell's kid, and since it's Will Ferrell, you can't help but wonder if it's a joke, you know? I wouldn't mind seeing a little Magnus though.

Ingrid is fine, but nothing I'd use myself. I don't think of an ugly old woman per say, but I would think an Ingrid would be kind of old.

Magnus is the name of my Great-great-uncle, so I like it. He was from Norway (not that it matters, but I just thought I'd add that).

Strangely, the name Ingrid reminds me of shrimp. I can't say if that's good or bad. I don't think I would use it, though.

Gilbert, nn Gil, is one of my favorite names. Not because of Anne. My best friend dragged me kicking and screaming through that book, and I still don't like it.

Magnus and Ingrid would make great siblings in a family of Scandinavian descent! Magnus might be a little much, though, if you're not Scottish or Norwegian ;)

Ingrid is stunning, and I think in serious contention if we have another little girl. The hard g-, r- and -d would put some people off.

Agnes and Agatha are both usable, and Aggie is a sweet nn, though I think many people would find these too old-fashioned. Agatha might work better because it end in a like many current girls' names. Agnes is prettier in French :)

Gilbert- my daughter's name is Anne...but if it weren't, I'd totally try to talk my partner into Gilbert nn Gil or Gib for a son!

now, sorry, but IMO these names are awful. Ingrid is the only pretty one. I have good assosciations with it from White Oleander. The book- the movie is a waste of time. Agnes should never be used on anyone.

I really like Ingrid. I know a girl named that, and she's nice, so perhaps that's why I like it.
