Chasen
Sydney Penny--the actress who played the young Meggie in the "Thorn Birds" mini-series in the 1980s (she's currently on "All My Children"--and her husband of 12 years welcomed their first child on May 31st. Their son was named Chasen August. Sydney claims Chasen is the name of her friend's brother and the name just 'stuck in her head' and then she went online and found out it means "huntsman". :-/ Wonder what site that was? LOL. I love August but it's becoming quite the popular name as well, esp. among celebs (darnit--and my favorite combo is Henry August, ACK!). WDYT of Chasen August? Chasen looks like some variant of Jason or just Chase with a -n on the end. I don't like it at all.

I love August, but Chasen makes me laugh. My parents were avid All My Children fans so I grew up watching Sydney Penny. I would have hoped for a better name. Oh well...

Makes me think of chasten, not a word I'd want to name a kid after. The sound is too close and too trendy. I like August though, and Chase is ok.edit: clarify

I didn't even think of chasten. It basically sounds like the same word. :-/

It's terrible; like someone saying Jason with a speech impediment. That poor kid is going to tell people his name and everyone will think he's actually Jason until they see it written down.I wish someone would issue a warning to all new parents and tell them many baby name websites just make stuff up.

Love Chase. Like Jason. HATE Chasen.

Chasing August? Why would you want to do that? What's he ever done to you?I think it's utterly awful.

I really dislike Chasen and can't see it as anything other than a surname. It immediately reminds me of Harold Chasen of Harold and Maude, which is a nice association...but then I also think of the Chazen Museum of Art, which is what one of my favourite art museums was renamed after a bunch of money was pushed their way. And that's something that still pisses me off. This is a name that makes me want to hit things.Array
