Girl, and very trendy.
My DH absolutely loves this name, and if we had had a girl, he wanted to name her Sydney, because of Syndey Bristow on Alias. Only after meeting several girls named Syndey, I just find the name very trendy and a substitute for girls who should have been named Brittany.
