John could be so many things because it is such an across the board name. I picture a rather charming man, probably funny who is successful.
If I usedJohn I would use it as a double first name: John Paul. John can work with many names. My cousins name is John Francis. I don't think any mn goes BEST with the name.
John is better than James, it is less used at least around here. William is boring, but I do like the nn Liam or no nn at all. Jackob is somewhat ridiculous looking. Jacob is nice though.
