Re: John
*Good name or not?
Yes, I love it. It's in my top 10 (John Bertram)*Popular or not?
Yes (there's no getting away from it) but popularity never bothers me and John is a name that's been contantly popular, has a varied history and isn't part of a fad of soundalike names (e.g. Aidan / Jaden / Caden / Hayden / Braden etc)*Who comes to your mind as a first John?
No-one really. People I know, a few kings and other people in history but it's not tied to just one person.*Is there any other pet from John besides Johnny?
Jack, Jock, Jackie, Jockie, (ok, the last few not exactly usable)*What is a 'personality' of that name in your opinion?
It's a good solid name so realiability, steadiness.*What midle name goes best with John?
John Bertram :)
There's loads though that I like, this is a list from a post I made several months back (when I decided John needed a more unusual middle name):
John Frederick
John Sylvester
John Felix
John Lachlan
John Meredith (I prefer Meredith on a boy)
John Peregrine
John Sidney
John Tierney
John Augustus
John Abraham
John Bertram
John Grigor
John Aubrey
John SebastianBut more comnon names also work:
John William
John Michael
John Samuel
John Matthew
John Richard
John Edward*Which is better John or James? Jack? Jackob? maybe William?
Well, I love John, James, Jack and William but I probably would pick John over them (though with William and James close behind).*Could it be a name of a brother to Alan?
I don't see why not.*Would you chouse it as a name of your son?
Yep, definitely.

Thanks :)It does sound familiar though so I'm wondering whether I've seen it as a fn/ln combos in one of my history book. The same happened with John Aubrey, he was a 17th century writer. Still love it as a fn/mn combo though :)
