Its kind of growing on me lately. Any thoughts? Im not liking the meaning too much, but the sound is what gets me.

I love this name! Really, really great, IMO.
My younger brother, who will be 17 this year, his name is Caleb. It was basically unheard of when he was born and my parents picked his name. Now you hear the name mentioned more on naming sites and occasionaly you see/hear it on babies or little boys. Unfortunatly, people will sometimes ruin a perfectly good name with a terrible spelling such as Kayleb! *shudders*
It's nice, but it's gotten too popular for my tastes. The meaning doesn't bother me.
Caleb is my second favorite boy's name. It's strong, masculine, and classic, as are many OT male names. I think it's become popular because it has the trendy "ay" sound at the beginning. The "eb" sound at the end is reminiscient of Jacob. The meaning bothers me not one bit. The only time I ever discussed what my name meant was in high school, when I had to research the meaning of my name and have that meaning read out loud in front of the class. I think namenerds are the only people who really care what a name means; the wider public is indifferent.
I love this name prefer It spelt this way Kaleb
I don't understand why it's so widely liked. It's not the meaning that bugs me (dogs have positive connotations too!) but the sound. I think the sound is horrible! I suppose it depends on your personal taste and accent. I also find it popular, but it will age well and is a sturdy name.
Totally agree. :)
Couldn't have put it better!
I love it!!!
I really like the name Caleb, despite its meaning. I think it's a very classy, handsome, masculine name that has stood the test of time and will age well. I also really like Cale.
For some reason it sonds very American teenage-mum to me

I used to like this name, until I knew it's meaning. I know a 2 boys named Caleb, it's nms.
I love Caleb and I don't think it has a bad meaning. It means 'dog' and if you take into account that a dog is a symbol of loyalty, companionship and intelligence, then I don't think that it's a bad meaning whatsoever. :)
I also like Kalev, it's Hebrew derivative.
