Interesting. I would use it on a girl.

I love it as a middle name on a boy only. It sounds very masculine to me and I couldn't take a River seriously so I'd keep it in the middle.

I am not too keen on noun names, but as noun names go it's ok. It seems more masculine too me, possibly becasue of River Phoenix, but I think it could work on a girl as well.

I like River for a boy.

I like it. I think of it as male because of River Phoenix, but I guess I could see it on either gender.I do like Rio on either a girl or boy, so I guess it's the same thing.

I absolutely love this name, and I like it for either gender, though possibly more for a boy.

It's ok. I don't like it that much, but I don't hate it. I prefer it on a boy, despite my love of Firefly.

I'd only use it as a mn for a boy.

I think it's all right. I used to prefer it on a boy, then I saw Serenity and decided it's much cooler for a girl. Still, it's not that great in my opinion.

I actually like it, and for a girl. My affinity for it is partially explained by my fondness for the show Firefly which has a main character named River. I think the name could also work for a boy, though. As in the actor River Phoenix. I suppose this doens't help you . . . But either way, I like the name.
