I had a moment in time when I was young and named a doll of mine Calandra Gretchen but that was a very brief moment in time. Gretchen reminds me of the word stretching plus every Gretchen I come in contact with seems snobby.

It sounds like someone vomiting. I've never liked it. It doesn't help that the only two Gretchens I've ever known were an old lady and an obese girl my age.

I don't think its horrible, and since Gretchen Wilson (country singer), I do have an odd liking to this name. However, there is something about it that I really don't like, I just don't know what it is. All in all, I say if you like it, go for it. I have no reason for you not to.
