Peter
I don't know what it is about this name, but I've fallen in love with it. The fact that it's slang for penis doesn't bother me - so far it seems to be a West Coast thing. However, I'd like to make sure of that. So, in your area, do you hear Peter used for penis?TIAEliora

Yes. I live in the South/Southeast and I've heard it several times. My SIL is from PA and she heard it more before she came down here to live, she says. So it might be somewhat regional, but it seems to be quite spread out. :b However, it would still personally deter me from using it, unfortunately. :-/

I love the name Peter also. Unfortunately, where I live (Virginia), Peter is occasionally used for penis, so much so that I could never use it with our surname (Burns). Peter Burns just wouldn't work, would it? ;-)ETA that I think more people should use the name Peter to get away from the bad association. After all, people still use John regularly.

Peter as penis? Nope, never. Only on television, and only on Family Guide. Around here, people don't say that at all.Array

Not herePeter / Pete was extremely common here till about 10 or 15 years ago and it's still comfortably top hundred. As a result I know loads of them, and I find it boring (like John, Robert, Steven) but certainly not funny.

Nope.I have never heard of that, and I am from CA.

I heard it once in high school. I wouldn't say it's common, though most people are aware of the double entendre. For what it's worth, I also like Peter (a little). It's so out right now. I also have a crush on a name that's becoming outdated: Edward. It's on a popularity downward spiral, and in some ways that makes the name more appealing.

I've never heard of Peter for penis (except on here when I mention I like Peter).I love Peter. It's one that has been on my list since I can remember, and the Peter Pan connection makes me love it even more.

I have a son named Peter, so I love the name.
As far as the slang thing-I live in a French- speaking area, so, bien sur, all the slang words are..French! And no, Pierre isn't one of them!

Peter is my brother's mn, and I've always loved it. I admit I have heard it used as slang for penis. It's rare, though, so rare it doesn't bother me. I asked my brother once if it had ever been an issue for him, and he said no. It's a great old name that deserves more attention. When you think about it, many proper names have been used as slang for penis--Willie, Dick, Jack, and John Thomas, just to name a few--and most of them far more frequently than Peter.

Roger, too.

I didn't know about the slang thing until you said so...I'm wishing you didn't, because I like the name. :( Oh well, I like it, but wasn't planning on using it anyways. ETA: I live in Oregon, which is on the west coast, if you care.

While the name is nms, it also is a pretty solid name. Also, I have lived on the West Coast all of my life, and have never heard Peter used as slang.
