Adelaide and Maeve
Replies
I think both Adelaide and Maeve are gorgeous. Adelaide Maeve is lovely, actually. :) I tend to prefer Maeve as a mn, but not because it's not beautiful as a fn. My favorite Maeve combo is Maeve Elspeth. Adelaide Pearl would make a lovely combo as well.
Eleanor Ruby is equally as beautious. :b I prefer Nora to Nella-Rue but I can see the attraction...at least while she's young. ;)

I do like Adelaide Maeve a lot, but I don't want to fall back into my old Alexandra/Charlotte dilemma. For years these were my two favourite names (I still adore them, but I like to think my tastes have broadened since joining BtN) and my favourite Alexandra combo was Alexandra Charlotte, and favourite Charlotte combo was Charlotte Alexandra. And no other combo seemed to compare to those two combos! Anyway, it sounds stupid and weird, but I am paranoid about having a similar dilemma! :p
Maeve Elspeth is very lovely. I also really like that Elspeth is a version of Elisabeth like Elise, so in a way it is honouring without being too egotistical or anything.
Adelaide Pearl is stunning. I think it has become my current favourite! Thank you!
I prefer Norah as a long term nn and thats what she would probably go by in school etc and she would rarely be Eleanor. But Nella-Rue has so much appeal as a nn for a little girl and for a nn around the house. Glad you like Eleanor Ruby!
Thanks again!

I do like Adelaide Maeve and Maeve Adelaide, but seeing as I like both names separately I want some combos that don't double up.
I know Nella-Rue is kind of hickish but thats half the fun with cute nns! She wouldn't go by it outside of the family. Its a bit like how I love Emmeline May, so I could call her Millie-May or Estelle May so I could call her Ellie-May...they just sound so silly and fun :p
Thanks for the comment

I really like Adelaide but I don't like Maeve so much. I think it works fine as a middle name though. Adelaide Maeve sounds like a great name! Other middle names for Adelaide could be....
Adelaide Mackenzie (this one was the first one that came to mind)
Adelaide Julia
Adelaide Maria
Middle names beginning with "L" run together a little too much for my taste.
Adelaide Laura
Adelaide Lindsey
Adelaide Lynn
I think Elinor Ruby is great! I agree Nella-Rue would make a good nn.

I like both. Maeve, I'm not really sure why I like, I think it's the -ae- that gets me. Adelaide I love mostly because of nn Addy. Eleanor is one of my all-time top favorite girls' names and Ruby is one of my all-time most hated girls' names, sorry. :( Ruby is a fine name if that's your style, but it just strikes me wrong for some unknown reason. I like nn Norah, and Nella-Rue is pretty darn cute. I think nn Nell is terribly sweet for Eleanor. Ooh, would you care for Eleanor Ruth, nn Nella-Rue? Just a thought. :)
Adelaide Maeve
Adelaide Victoria

Oooh why had I never thought of putting Adelaide and Violet together? They are two of my favourite names! I adore the combo Adelaide Violet, thank you!
I also love Adelaide Joy, Adelaide Margaret and Adelaide Iris
Maeve Eleanor, Maeve Lucinda and Maeve Rhiannon are also lovely.
I don't dislike Eleanor Ruth, but Ruth doesn't really do anything for me, IYKWIM? It's one of those names I don't love or hate, or like or dislike- I have no feelings for it either way. Whereas Ruby reminds me of a fiery woman, yet it is still a cute name, and it has this whole 1920s air about it. Thanks for the suggestion though :)

I understand. I have some bad Ruby associations, & it's just not my thing, but if you like it, that's great. However, I have a dangerous feeling that I could fall hard for it if I met the right person with the name. :)
To each his own.
To each his own.
Maeve I love, Adelaide I'm not really a fan of.
Adelaide Rosamund
Adelaide Belle
Adelaide May
Adelaide Eve
Adelaide Helen
Adelaide Freya
Adelaide Ginevra
Adelaide Josephine
Adelaide Jeanette
Maeve Desdemona (first thing that came into my head - I love this)
Maeve Ariadne
Maeve Cecilia
Maeve Raine (this is pretty good too)
Maeve Clarice
Maeve Lysithea
Maeve Antoinette
Maeve Leonora
Eleanor Ruby is a solid combination; Norah I don't like, but Nella-Rue is an absolutely adorable nickname.

Wow, so many gorgeous combos!
I love Adelaide Rosamund, Adelaide May, Adelaide Freya and Adelaide Ginevra. I think Adelaide Rosamund is my favourite of them, closely followed by Adelaide Freya
Maeve Desdemona is stunning! But I think I might have difficulty getting over the Othello reference. Desdemona really isn't a character I would want to name my child after...I will have to ponder this combo for awhile
I also love Maeve Ariadne and Maeve Leonora. Gorgeous!
Thank you so much!

I really like Maeve and Adelaide is nice enough, but not my style and a bit too long. Eleanor Ruby is a pretty combo. The 2 names do sound a bit old-fashioned (they make me think of a distinguished old lady) but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Norah is nice as well, but I'm not sure I like "Nella-Rue", it sounds contrived and tacky, but since it's a nn she could change it if she didn't like it.
