I prefer Valerie. Valerie sounds softer to me than Violet. I also like Valerie because it's easier to say. Thanks

Violet. Simply because I prefer it

Definitely VioletI have a 'thing' for flower names, and it also has a sweet, old-fashioned feel. I know quite a few Valeries, and it just doesn't seem ready for a comeback, IMO.

I love Violet!!! Its on my top 10 right now so thats why I chose Violet over Valerie.

I personally prefer Viola over Violet and Valeria over Valerie, to be honest. Between Violet and Valerie, I'd choose Violet because it was one of my favourite girls names when I was a kid and I still like it.

VioletIt's cuter and prettier in my opinion.

I agree.

ValerieViolet seems very trendy right now. It's trendy among educated people with pretty good taste, admittedly, but trendy nonetheless. Baby (toddler?) Violet Affleck didn't help matters, but I believe it was on the up before that ...All in all, I think Valerie is quirkier and has a nicer sound.

Valerie.
I don't know why, I just like it better...

Valerie, no contest. If it was Viola and Valerie, I'd find it significantly harder, though. ;)Array

Violet, but I wonder if the name is just going to explode with popularity in the next few years. It has that vintage and earthy feel that is really popular at the moment and it is a nice alternative to Lily so I would still pick it, Valerie seems very 1980s to me (like her best friend would be named Tiffany or Heather).

I like Valerie better, because Violet seems like a baby's name to me. It's cute on a little kid, but hard to imagine on an adult (I have the same opinion about Daisy). I'll admit that Valerie is dated, however.

VioletI like both names, but for some reason Violet looks and sounds better to me.

Violet! I really hate the sound of Valerie.

I like them both a LOT, but Violet by just a little bit more. But it's new popularity just evens them back out again.

I like Violet better, but it is becoming one hot little name in terms of popularity. Valerie would be a very nice, less expected choice now-a-days. I like the nickname Val.

Valerie, hands down! I used it for my daughter. :)

Valerie. At first, I always like Violet better. However, it is so close to the word "Violent" that it's a put off.

Valerie is my middle name, honoring a friend of my mom. I like it, but I wouldn't use it to honor myself. (Ariel is easier to work with. :) )Violet is a nice name, but it's a little over-used in my opinion. So, I'd go with Valerie, but of course I'm biased toward it. ;)

That's a toughie. I like both! If I absolutely HAD to choose I'd probably go with Valerie.
