One of my very good friends is Carrie and I always think of her, not any of the pop culture refs my sister mentioned. But then I was never into pop culture to begin with. :-D

I adore Carrie, although I tend to prefer it as a nn for Carys, Carolyn, or Caroline. If I was just going to go with Carrie I think I'd pick something along the lines of Kerry or Keri.

I love the name Carrie! Your right, it is so simple and beautiful. There really is no need to use Caroline or any other Carrie names because it sounds fine by itself. Sorry but I really don't like the spelling Cary. I think Carrie is the best way to spell this name.

It's okay as a nn. Alone, it strikes me as very boring. I do love Cary and Carey for a boy, though.

I love the name Carrie! :-) It's been one of my favorites for quite some time, and I definitely prefer it on its own. I'm not partial to Caroline, Carolyn, Carolina, Carys, etc, and I think Carrie, as you said, is simple and beautiful.

I'd keep the spelling Carrie. Cary reminds me of Cary Grant and doesn't look as complete imo. My personal favorite Carrie combos are Carrie Marie, Carrie Celestia, and Carrie Daniela.

Its not my style. However, if it helps my cousin Carrie loves her name. :)

I've recently grown on this name quite a bit, just as a full name. Carrie, Carri, Karrie! Cary looks kinda incomplete, for some reason. I mean, I could understand it as a nickname for Caryis, but it looks... I dunno. I guess it could work.
Have you come up with any Carrie combos? All I've got is Carrie Nicole, which I'm not dying for :P

Sorry, but I think it's too ingrained in pop culture as the titular character of the horror movie or as the lead from Sex and the City to be usable on its own. As a NN it isn't so bad because it can be varied up.
