River?
Right now I'm loving River for a boy, but my concern is that it may be a little feminine-sounding. Any thoughts?Even if you don't like it/it's not your style, do you think it's a reasonably acceptable name for a boy? Thanks!

To me, River is all masculine. I don't like it for girls.:)

I think it can count as unisex but I slighty prefer it on a boy (hence my son's name). I definitely think it's a respectable boy's name though.

I don't really know. I first saw for a girl when I was eight and it was only a couple months ago that I first saw it for a boy, so I'm not really used to it. However, it seems to be accepted for either so its fine.

I love it! It doesn't seem feminine at all to me

I've never seen it in real life, so my first thought is boy because I'm so used to seeing it as Sabrina Fair's future son's name and because we have a poster named Calida whose son's name really is River.Even though it is not my style, I do think that it is reasonably acceptable for a boy, yes.

Boy, mainly because of River Phoenix.I do like Rio as a name for either a boy or girl though!

I love River as a boy's middle name. It's very masculine to me, actually. I'd have trouble taking a River seriously, but it's great as a middle name.

I would personally only like it for a boy, not a girl.

this is on the list for my husband and I but for a girl. I however tend to lean towards it being a boy....just because of River Phoenix. I like it for a girl though

It's acceptable for a boy, it's my future son's name, lol

I like it for a boy, and I see it as mostly masculine thanks to River Phoenix. It's not something I'd use, but I would like to meet a River one day. :)

I like it on either sex. Currently, I prefer it for a girl--you can blame River Tam (and Arcadia's consistent mention of it ;) for that--but it works perfectly well on a boy. I know one, and he's the damned cutest thing I ever saw.Array

I hear it more on boys than girls so I see no problem. I personally really like for either.

It's great on a boy :)and I think it's acceptable - he'd be very different from all the Jacob's and Jayden's in his classes lol. I also think it would suit any personality.

Yes. I think it's unisex. Or at least, I can imagine it being masculine on a guy, and femme on a woman. I actually lean towards thinking it suits a male rather better than a female, but that could be just because I heard of actor R. Phoenix before I ever saw the film Serenity (the only 2 times I've encountered people bearing the name).
