I hate row-EE-nah, but row-EH-nah is quite nice. I still MUCH prefer Rowan on a boy, though.

I agree with you on the pronunciation as I think it is pretty. Either way its still totally awesome.

I prefer roe-wen-a too though I'm pretty sure roe-WEE-nah is correct, or at least the pronunciation used by most. I think that has a very ugly sound, and it's the reason it's not even on my long list. WEE-nah sounds like someone with a northeast accent talking about a weiner.

I got one of my top #2 names for a boy (Cedric) from Ivanhoe many, many years ago when I first read it. Everyone assumes it's from Harry Potter these days... annoys the heck outta me. ;)

I've always heard Rowena as ro-EE-nah. Not sure if it's a legit name or not but Rowenna would make more sense if prn. with a short "e" in the middle. Both are pretty, IMO.

I think it's ok, I've heard it pronounced both ways.

I think I'm a snob...I'd automatically assume it's pronounced the correct way and go for ro-wee-na.

I do like Row-EN-a pronounced this way only. Row-EE-na is very unattractive, imo.

Rowena is very romantic and underappreciated. It reminds me of another favorite that you might also like: Morwenna ("mor-WEN-a"). What do you think?

P.S. I just thought of another similar name: Edwina. No one ever likes it but me. I may have lost you now, I realize. But I couldn't resist throwing Edwina into the mix.

I love this name,but only if it's pronounced as you like it,Row-en-ah. I do not like Ro-wee-na.
