Shrek
Shrek 3 is coming out soon, and I was wondering if this would affect the popularity of the name Fiona (which I love) what do you think? And to save posts, I recently met a sib set of Emma and Dale, but here in the UK (not sure if any where else broadcasts it but I could be wrong) is a popular soap called Emmerdale, or Emmerdale Farm. Which I found hilarious, sorry kids!

I just checked with the SSA's site. Fiona really hasn't had a significant increase in the last several years since the release of the first two Shrek movies. It raised in standing maybe 100 places, peaking at #327 in 2004 then dropping to #378 in 2005. Hopefully, it won't become too common after the lastest Shrek.

I think the Fiona popularity has already been worked by the first 2 Shreks. THe EmmaDale thing is kind of awful too.

Phew. For a minut there I thought you were asking opinions on the name Shrek ;-)Fiona is lovely. It's very pretty and sophistocated, but it also has a nice sassy sound to it. Darling.

Fiona will be out in force with the new crop of babies coming out right around movie release time.

I haven't seen a lot of difference in the popularity of Fiona so far and Shrek 1 and 2 have been out for a while, so probably number 3 wouldn't change things much. Fiona is a lovely name, but I associate it more with Fiona Apple than with Princess Fiona.Never seen the show in Texas. I like Dale a lot. It's my cousin's name. Emma is certainly too popular. Did you ask the mom if she was a loyal of the show?

Geez, I thought you were contemplating Shrek as a given name.Anyway, yes, I expect Shrek will contribute (and has already) to the popularity of Fiona.
