How do YOU pronounce...
Lorelei?I always though it was lorrah-lee, but I'm listening to When Mermaids Cry, by Eagle Eye Cherry, at the minute, and he pronounces it lorrah-LIE (rhymes with 'eye'). I think I like it better pronounced this way. Have you heard it pronounced as lorrah-lie before? How do you pronounce the name? Which spelling do you prefer?

with the "lie" on the endjust like I learned in German class and just like I learned in that semester we studied mythology. I prefer the lie pronunciation because the lee seems (is?) wrong to me. (There's also a classic rock song called "Lorelei" and it's pronounced "lie" in that song too.)

I prn it LORR-uh-LIE. It's the only way I've hear it, and even after reading it now with the LEE ending, I( like my way better. Sounds nicer imho.
It's the name of the mother from Gilmore Girls, and they prn it with LIE.
