I've said it many times here, but my sister is named Candis (the spelling is the same as our aunt, whom she was named after). If I ever have a little girl, her mn will be Candis. Spelling it Candace or Candice isn't an option for me--though I usually hate 'alternate' spellings--but my sister's name is Candis, and that's "her" spelling. She pronounces the others can-DAYCE and can-DYCE, lol. She was called Candi growing up, and our family and her old friends still call her that, even though she hates it. It's mildly better than spelling it Candy, though, I think. BTW, her mn is Eloise, after another aunt.

I love Candace! And, like you, I don't really care for the nn Candy, either. :o/ For some reason, I've thought for quite a while that Candace and Bernice would make a good sister set. :o)

From your profile I see you like Lydia, so I think Lydia Candice sounds great.

I never really liked it, I always disliked the way its spelt. I think the meaning is interesting and it sounds pretty, too. However, I just discovered recently that it can be spelt Candis and I really love this spelling. If I had to choose between Candace and Candice, it would be tough, but I think I'd go with Candace. I think Candace/Candice is very very pretty, so elegant and sophisticated but not flowery. You don't see it used much, especially as a full name, most of them end up Candy. I agree with you about Candy, it sounds like either a stripper, an ex-cheerleader who still hasn't gotten over her glory days, or a dog. lol My grandparents, I think, or maybe it was an aunt and uncle, had a three-legged dog named Candy when I was very little. I don't remember just how she came to be three-legged maybe a car accident, or a fight with a coyote. Shoot, now I'm going to be wondering about this all day and probably have to call somebody in Oklahoma to find out. :)
