I have a hard time liking Sharon that much as I connect if with other out dated sounding names like Shirley, Sherry, Sheryl, Shannon and Susan. Also it's the name of my mom's not-so-nice step-sister so I guess I also have a bit of prejudice that way.
I don't know why people have to spell it Sharron or Sharyn, perhaps it is to help alleviate the dated look of the name.
I personally like Shannon better but really like Sheridan on a girl a lot but I do like the meaning of Sharon and it's connection to the rose of Sharon flower and it's biblical context of Jesus being compared to the rose of Sharon.
So I'm completely ready to learn to like it especially when it's on a sweet little girl probably with brown curly hair. :)
