Ruth (edited)
Short, sweet, and to the point is why I like it. It has a great meaning as well, plus it's not outdated. It's not overused by any means, yet it's not unknown. Cute on a little girl, professional on an adult. And the nicknames Rue and Ruthie every now and then! Ah, love.
So, wdyt of Ruth? Any combo suggestions? Ruth Julia came to mind, though I'm not sure how good it sounds. Thanks in advance. :D

ETA: Wdyt of Ruth Alice? It just came to mind. :)

I too love the name Ruth, for all the reasons you mentioned. The story of Ruth in the Bible is one of my favourite stories. Ruth Julia doesn't seem to flow all that well imo. Ruth Alice is alright, quite cute and I love the name Alice. Here are some more combo suggestions:

Ruth Julia is nice. Ruth Alice doesn't appeal to me. Ruth Miranda? Ruth Mara?
My image of Ruth is usually sort of old and frumpy, but then I took a class from a biology professor named Ruth ... who is about my age and incredibly beautiful, smart, and sweet. So I think the old image doesn't matter at all. The name suited her really well. It's a very dignified, quiet femme name - "power name" as I like to say. Rue is one of my favorite sounds, too. Don't know that I really go for Ruthie, but the right woman or girl could wear it well.

Ruth = ♥.
I'll admit that I rather wish I could say that my first association was the Ruth of the Bible, who was a wonderful woman, but it's not. Three guesses as to who is, and the first two don't count. ^^;;;
I love Ruthie, too. Too cute; Ruthie Snow is one of my lesser favourites among double names.
Ruth Julia and Ruth Alice are both fine, but neither is jumping out at me as the perfect combo. A few suggestions (I should hate to overwhelm you):
Ruth Claudia
Ruth Thomasine / Ruth Thomasin / Ruth Thomasina / Ruth Tamsin / Ruth Tomasa
Ruth Helena / Ruth Helen
Ruth Antonia / Ruth Antonelle / Ruth Antonella
Ruth Penelope / Ruth Parnassia / Ruth Perpetua / Ruth Persephone / Ruth Pandora / Ruth Petronella
Ruth Gloria
Ruth Winifred
Ruth Caroline
