Gabrielle

I think Gabrielle is classic and timeless. I find it to be a very pretty name that isn't overly popular. I don't like the NN Gabby at all, and I don't necessarily think it'd be shortened to that, especially if you call her by her full name or by another nickname. There may be a few people here and there who call her Gabby, but if she doesn't like it, she could always correct them.
I, personally, like the nicknames Ellie, Brielle, and Abby.

Gabrielle could be Abby, actually
I went through 10 years of school with a girl named Gabrielle; she went by Abby throughout. She absolutely despised 'Gabby' and had been called Abby since birth.
Actually, all her sisters had beautiful names but were shortened:
Nicolette - Nikki
Gabrielle - Abby
Jacqueline - Jackie
Marguerite - Maggie

I really like the name Gabrielle, but yes, I despise the nn Gabby or Gab. I know a girl whose name is Gabrielle and her mom once said how she had to name her Gabrielle because she just loved it, but she despised the nn Gabby .. well guess what, her nn is Gabby!! Her mom said her friends at school just started to call her that automatically. I know a few other Gabrielles, all nnd Gabby or Gab, so I do think the nickname sort of comes with the name.
