I studied Latin, and this name cropped up a few times. I really like it! Especially if you over-emphasise the first "c" so it sounds really throaty. (apparently how it was originally pronounced)

Yeah, it's originally pronounced almost like a "g" and Gaius actually is a varient.

That makes sense, but my brain also wants to say it as Cay-us. I think with the potential pronunciation problems, which may lead to spelling problems, it may lead into confusion all around. Plus, I don't find it masculine toned.
