Re: WDYT of Rufus?

Yes, I have met a dog named Rufus, a big , loud, dribbly boxer mix. Yes, I associate the name with a dog.
I think that Rufus is one of those names that have a limited shelf life (most "classic" names are nonperishable, or can be revived easily, but some get stale and there's nothing much anybody can do to bring them back) and the use-by date is a distant memory. In that case, I say the best thing is to just discard it gracefully. lol
There si a singer, not very old, called Rufus Wainwright. I don't know how popular he is but I've seen him in Rolling Stone a few times, a few years ago. He is one of those aggressively gay, aggressively sullen "singer songwriters" types who make it fashionable to be depressed and depressing. lol That's if memory hasn't failed me. HIS father is Loudon Wainwright, who made his fortune on a song about, really, a dead skunk on the road.

I like Rufus Wainwright. :) And Rufus Sewell. They make me like the name more. I have met people (and animals), in real life, named Rufus so it doesn't seem all that far-fetched to me. I like it, though I'm not sure I'd ever use it. Yes, it is a little too 'out there' for most, and there are just other names I love more.
Dead Skunk In The Middle of the Road! For some reason, I like that song. Perhaps because it reminds me that I've so far avoided hitting a skunk with the car. Narrowly avoided.
I've avoided hitting them, but you can't avoidknowing all abut it when somebody else doesn't avoid them.
I have only heard the song a couple times, and while it isn't the dumbest song ever recorded, it is pretty darn dumb.
