Of the two I would probably be more inclined to use Rowan.
Both names have drawbacks to me. Roman is a bit of a label, but it has a nice sound. It does sound a bit like Roamin' though, however Rowan sounds a bit like Rowin'. Roman also means Novel in Dutch.
