You know, I'd forgotten all about the name Matilda. I like it quite a bit. The same goes for Sabrina (I think of Audrey Hepburn rather than the teenage witch, however).
Avalon is very pretty and I do think it's usable. I actually used to live near a British couple who had two little girls, one named Avalon, the other named Tamarin (not sure on the spelling, pronounced TAM-a-rin). Midori, however, reminds me of melon-flavored liquor.
Belle Ruth is okay, but a little choppy, as you said.
