Branwen vs. Bronwen
Sorry for the double post...but do you all pronounce Branwen and Bronwen the same way? (BRON-WEN). On BtN it says Branwen is pronounced BRAN-WEN. Is that the same? I'm confused...I prefer the spelling Branwen, but I like how Bronwen sounds..*Cody*Michelle*

I say BRAN-wen.I actually have considered using this name in the past, but people thought it reminded them too much of bran flakes. Still like it, though.

I pronounce Branwen as BRAN-wen and Bronwen as BRAWN-wen. I prefer Branwen. It seems less harsh than Bronwen. I personally wouldn't use either. They're ok names. I prefer Anwen to Branwen.

I don'tBranwen is BRAN-wen, while Bronwen is BRAHN-wen (or BRAWN-wen, because AH and AW are basically identical in my accent), just like BtN says.I don't like either name, but if I was forced to choose I'd pick Branwen.

Branwen and Bronwen are two separate names to with two separate pronunciations. Branwen like bran muffins or cereal, and Bron like the o of the word on. Both are not at all pretty or feminine - very ugly, rather. Sorry.

As Chrisell says: Bronwen and Branwen are pronounced differently - at least by Australians. But noiw Elinor has replied maybe by English and Scottish people too.As Chrisell said - I ditto Bronwen as BRON-wen (short 'o') and Branwen as BRAN-wen (short 'a'). They are different names pronounced differently to me. Just like Aaron and Erin while I'm at it.

No, I pronounce them quite differently -- Branwen with an "a" sound like in "cat"; Bronwen with an "aw" sound like in "cot".I really like both names, but slightly prefer Branwen for sound. (I also prefer Branwen's meaning, though that isn't a big deciding factor for me.)_____________________________________________________________________"There are few more distressing sights than that

To me they're very distinct - Branwen has a short 'a' sound and Bronwen has a short 'o' sound. I can see that in an American accent they might be similar though.I much prefer Bronwen to Branwen, simply because I dislike the word 'bran' in Branwen.
