I know the name 'Bellatrix' has probably been discussed quite a few times. But Im having trouble finding names to suit it. If you could give me some ideas or even your views of the name that would be appreciated. Thanks

The biggest thing I've heard my friends/family talk about when naming a child is if a name is going to get a child teased- and even if a name the Bellatrix predates Harry Potter- it's now a name kids are going to associate with a very bad character in a book every kid has to read in grade school. It seems a bit cruel to sick a child with a name like that.

Valid point. I wouldnt use 'Bellatrix'as the first name, only the second. So most people wouldnt even know that they had that name.

Oh, come one...! Who seriously cares about HP? The name Bellatrix exists since long before J.K.R. used it for her books. I like the name! Even if it stands alone. And with Bella as nickname...! Stylish! Why not? :-)Oh, by the way! How do you actually pronounce it? "BELLA-trix" or Bel-LA-trix? Just curious...! ;-)

Im sure many people have come to like the name 'Bellatrix' through its association with HP. I on the other hand have not read HP.
I heard this name through a friend whos pregnant, and she was quoting names she through were strange. As soon as she said it I liked it. I would say that it could be pronounced either way.
Probably Bel-LA-trix.

I didn't read HP aswell, so it's pretty the same with me. I heared the name from a friend of mine who used it for a roleplay and I thought it was cool. :-)Good to know that you can pronounce it either way. I like Bel-LA-trix better, anyway. xD

Bellatrix is a strong feminine name, but at the moment it is strongly associated with the evil Bellatrix in Harry Potter.
I think it needs a short more common middle name to balance it
Bellatrix Elise
Bellatrix Faith
Bellatrix Rose
Bellatrix Mary
Bellatrix LouiseA childs smile is worth more to me than Gold

hey thats for harry potter lol personally i wouldnt go for a name thats in such a popular book, everyone would always ask " oh like from harry potter""be yourself, and nobody can ever tell you your doing it wrong"

I think Bellatrix is pretty cool-sounding. A similar-sounding name that I really love is Beatrix. I have trouble finding middle names for it, too. With a name like Bellatrix, ideally you need a fairly simple, pretty mn to take the edge off Bellatrix, but also something with a little personality. I suggest:Bellatrix Faye
Bellatrix Fiona
Bellatrix Claire
Bellatrix Anna
Bellatrix Adelaide

I don't care for it. I find that the x makes it unflattering, and it leads me to think of Trix cereal. As for combos, I suggest Bellatrix Jean.
